Okay, this post should really be titled "THERE WAS SWEAT," but that just doesn't have the same ring to it, so... :D Hey, I'm easily amused - I admit it! ;}
In other words, I finally got back on the Elliptical and went for 48 minutes (and 4.8 miles)!! Yeah, I was nice and sweaty (and red-faced) after that, and boy did it feel good! It's been a good three weeks since I've felt up do doing any exercising -- I'll probably feel it tomorrow...
I had 1621 calories today, with 134 oz. water as well as my morning coffee. I'm rather astonished at how quickly I've gotten used to drinking so much water! It's been maybe a week and a half, and I still get a bit surprised when reach the end of 32-oz or even a 40-oz "glass" of water, and it feels like I just got back from filling it up! I definitely think it's helping with the weight loss, but it will be nice when I can "get used to" running to the bathroom all the time!
Maybe by dancing down this well-worn path this time, I won't have to travel it again...

Happy Monday!
I had a very good weekend for me -- I got all my water in BOTH days - 120 oz per day! That's the first weekend I've had all my water! And I didn't go over my calories all weekend, either - 1622 on Friday, 1639 on Saturday, and 1557 on Sunday. More than I was getting last week, but according to My Plate, my daily intake should be no more than 1701 calories, so it was a good weekend for me! Especially since I usually used to go over calories on the weekends, so... Yay me! :}
I didn't do so well today, although I did better than I could have. I did have about 104 oz. water and my usual coffee, so I did pretty good, water-wise. And then we had some people over to watch the BCS Bowl game, and my Honey made Spaghetti. And let me tell you, he makes an AMAZING Spaghetti sauce -- it's REALLY yummy, and it turned out absolutely delicious this time! *drool...* Oh! *Quickly wiping chin* I did track my calories though, and it came to a total (including beverages - I know those calories count, too!) of 1920.
I didn't lose complete control tonight though, so I'm not unhappy with how the day turned out, especially on a Monday after a good weekend! :) And I'm dealing with TTOM to boot, so really -- I'm doing okay!
G'Night, all!

Happy Friday, and a Weigh In!
1.5 loss*! So I'm back to my pre-Christmas weight! Yaay, me! :)
*This was, of course, before my body decided that today would be the day I'd have good bowel movements throughout day after not having decent movements all week... :P The 1.5 is what I'm going to record, though, since it was at my usual time/day.
From here on out, I'm sure it's just going get harder. The fact that I dropped the weight again so quickly pretty much proves to me that it was water weight I gained back and then lost. Which I pretty much expected, but it is nice that it didn't take longer to go away.
I'm planning on adding exercise back to my routine this weekend/next week, and that means I'll be upping my calories accordingly. I'm not naive enough to think I can exercise without ill effects on 1300 cals/day. :} And then the week following are when my dance classes start again, so I'll definitely be getting in my exercise then!

Signs of Life!
Both the Hubster and I are FINALLY feeling better. Whew!!! (I'm mostly relieved about the Hubster, after listening to his horrible coughing...) My throat is still feeling a bit sore and I'm still somewhat stuffy (and I still need to get more sleep...) but I DEFINITELY feel better than I have since Christmas. Yaay!
I worked from home again yesterday - again, I'm VERY thankful that I have a job where I can do that if I need to! I drank a lot of fluid - somewhere around 140 oz. (I'm definitely going to try to keep it up - at least 118 oz. per day at this point - half my current weight) and took in 1382 calories. I tried to post an update yesterday, but blogspot must have been having some problems...
Today I made it back to work and did pretty well! Pretty much everyone on my team has been hit with some kind of cold - even one person who lives and works several hours away. So least I wasn't the one who gave it to everyone!
There was a bag of peanut or almond brittle left over from the HUGE gift box our vendor sent us for Christmas. (I should've taken a picture of it all before everyone dove in - it was a smorgasbord in a box!) They've sent the same kind of smorgasbord to us in past years, and this brittle really is delicious stuff! It was sitting RIGHT outside my cube all day. Very easily accessible, directly in my line of sight ALL DAY, and I'd only had a handful of the goodies before I left on my vacation almost 3 weeks ago. And... I wasn't tempted. Not a bit. At all. I don't know if it's all the water that did it, or the fact that I'm still in the "honeymoon" phase (if there is such a thing) of this diet when it's easier to be strong than it will be later on.
Today's total intake will be 1272 calories, and 120 oz. water plus my daily coffee, and a 12 oz. diet soda. Tomorrow (Friday) is my official weigh-in, and then will be the challenge of staying on track through the weekend. G'night, all!

Tuesday Check-In
I haven't even finished all of my last spaghetti squash, and the next one is already baked, scraped and in the fridge, not to mention already a part of my already packed lunch for tomorrow. Yaay, me!
*Sigh...* I'm not healthy yet. :P I'm lucky that I'm able to work from home if I need to, and that's what I did today. I probably shouldn't have gone in yesterday, but after being off for two whole weeks, I kinda felt like I needed to go in. I think the Neti Pot, Sudafed and Mucinex (which, by the way, tastes AWFUL!!!) are helping. Some. Hopefully. I'm just sick of being sick! (I think I've read that somewhere else out there in bloggerville, recently...)
Foodwise it was a decent day: 1307 calories. No exercise - not up to it yet. I'm looking forward to getting back to it, though -- hopefully before/by the weekend.
Fluidwise, it was a fantastic day: 96 ounces of water, a large glass of V8, 2 mugs of tea and my usual mug of coffee in the morning. So a total of 148 oz of fluids today! I know a lot of you are used to that amount by now, but it's definitely a first for me... I usually have a hard time with fluids when I'm at home, but I had a 48 oz cup that I filled twice, and added a Crystal Light On-The-Go pack to each cup. Speaking of which, I gotta go pee... And then go to bed!

Blech, Monday. (And a potential [scary] challenge in the future...?)
Went back to work today after two weeks off -- I wasn't ready. :P I did well on intake -- 1317 calories. About 48 oz. water, not including coffee, so I need to work on that. No exercise, since I still feel like crap. I did go to my Dr. today, and he gave me a regiment of using my Neti Pot and decongestants and Mucinex, and told me if I'm not better in a week to come back and see him. (Whereas my husband called his Dr. today, and they called in a prescription for an antibiotic without him having to go in and see the Dr. *Sigh...* Of course, his has already gone in to his chest, so...) Ugh. :P
And now the scary challenge... A couple of friends have signed up to do a long distance bicycle ride (Reach the Beach) on May 21st, and they're trying to talk me in to doing it with them. Which is nice of them, but I only got my bike near the end of last year. The last bike I had before this one was in college, which was 15 YEARS ago!
There are 4 different starting points, so the ride can be 28, 55, 80 or 100 miles long. At least two of my friends ("H" and "B," both of who already have several long distance rides under their belts) are committing to the 100 mile, and I'm.... still considering. H says she "knows" that any of us can do the 28 miles without any (or "much") training at all, and that we all should aim for at least the 55 mile ride. She did e-mail a 10-week training schedule to reach any of those distances, which should be REALLY helpful.
According to the training schedule, I would have to increase the weekly total of miles ridden from 55 miles (with one long ride of 25 miles) the first week to 122 miles (with one long ride of 65 miles) on the 8th week. (The long rides would be on the weekends, of course...) The 9th week would be 75 miles with a long ride of 50 miles, and then the 10th week is The Event. So I would have to start this training on March 13th (or sooner, and then reset to Week 1 on March 13th...) And it sounds do-able!
Part of me wants to jump and aim for the 100 miles, but my husband is trying to make sure I stay realistic about how much time I'll have to train between now and then. He definitely has a point. (When I step back from my excitement and really think about it) When my dance classes are going (starting in two weeks) I am really busy, especially during the week! I've got a full time job, and then either rehearsal or 2 hour's worth of classes 3 nights out of the week, and a performance about once a month.
Hubster's (valid) reservations are:
I'd better go to bed... G'night, and take your vitamin C and get your SLEEP!!!

- How busy I already am.
- How little riding experience I currently have -- I have no idea what my how far I can currently go on the bike - I don't have any kind of odometer on the bike yet. (Although Hubster is currently researching them even as I speak, so I can get one soon...)
- How much of my existing downtime (and him-time) the training would eat up.
- He doesn't want me to set myself up for failure by overreaching.
I'd better go to bed... G'night, and take your vitamin C and get your SLEEP!!!

Looking Back and Looking Forward
Happy New Year, everyone! May this journey around the sun bring you success in all your endeavours!
I'm starting to feel better, thank goodness, and for the first time I have hope that this cold is NOT going in to my chest. (Boy, I hope I'm not wrong...) I'm just glad I don't start back up with dance classes as well as work next week. As nice as it will be to get back in to the routine and the exercise, I'm glad I'll be "easing" back in to my regular schedule rather than being slammed with it all at once... That would be the surest way to keep me sick longer. :P
2010 was actually a very good year for me. A full year without cancer treatments (and only clean scans) for my husband; a promotion and raise at work; going solo as a dance teacher AND adding an Intermediate class; refinancing our house, which made it possible for us to pay off a lot of credit card debt AND get a much-needed new car. Not to mention a brand new (bundle of joy) nephew (after a total of 5 nieces) added to the family -- yes, a very good year for als! The only thing that really frustrated and disappointed me about the year was gaining all the weight that brought me here.
I'm looking forward to 2011 to bring challenges and frustrations, and hopefully more successes than failures. I haven't really made "resolutions" as such, but as I've mentioned here, I've got a Plan of Attack for achieving my goals of losing weight and becoming more active. The only other things I'd add are things like getting more sleep, and staying focused at work, so I can get more done while I'm there. (And so that I'm not worrying about it as much when I'm NOT there!) I'm going work on doing everything in my power to make sure it's a good year.
Let's see what the future brings! :D
